2025 Announcements from the Carmel Guitar Society Nonprofit Board of Directors

The Carmel Guitar Society, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, is proud to announce exciting changes within its all-volunteer leadership team. Known for enriching lives through classical guitar, the organization is powered by passionate individuals and generous donors who support its programs. These contributions ensure that funds go directly to artists, fostering a thriving classical guitar community on the Monterey Peninsula and beyond.

A New Chapter of Leadership

After years of dedicated service, Ronald Friedman, the longtime President of the Carmel Guitar Society, transitions into a new role as Member At-Large. Under Ron’s leadership, the organization grew its reach, supported world-renowned artists, and launched impactful initiatives like the Healing Guitar Program, which brings live performances to senior care facilities and hospitals.

Stepping into the role of President is Anthony DeMers, a talented classical guitarist, luthier, and educator based in Pacific Grove. Anthony brings a wealth of experience and a deep connection to the local community, ensuring the society’s mission continues to thrive.

Additionally, we welcome two new board members in key roles:

  • Erica Glenn, now Vice President, has been a Member At-Large since March 2024 and brings expertise in strategic storytelling, promotions, and event organization.

  • Toni Gibbs, a volunteer since July 2024, steps into the role of Secretary. Her dedication to classical guitar extends beyond the Society, with active involvement in Guitar Ensemble Monterey and therapeutic music performances.

These leaders, alongside the continued support of existing board members Kenneth Hill (Member At-Large), Richard DeVinck (Treasurer), and Ronald Friedman, form a dynamic team committed to fostering community and celebrating classical guitar.
