As our biggest event nears, the Carmel Guitar Society is deeply grateful to community members, partners, and donors for their unwavering support during what is becoming one of our most active years since our formation in 1961. The first two concerts in a six concert series were enjoyed by many and the artists Laurel Harned and An Tran delivered breathtaking programs. An Tran was the first of three concerts this year to be held at SandBox, the premier venue on Monterey Bay, offering a true music listening experience.

One of the original Carmel Guitar Society nonprofit organization's programs thriving today is Healing Guitar. Going strong with eight events completed this year, Healing Guitar brings live solo classical guitar performances to those in convalescent homes and hospitals to foster wellness in seniors and those who are ailing. This program is one of the foundational initiatives for our organization and the one for which we receive the most consistent donations. It is an honor to be relied upon by the community for this offering and we always accept new requests for performances of this kind: carmelguitar@gmail.com

Next up in Carmel Guitar Society events is our Classical Guitar Retreat at Asilomar June 18-21. We will welcome world-class artists including Hao Yang, William Kanengiser, and Evan Hirschelman to Pacific Grove for three days of classical guitar masterclasses, lectures, private lessons, and more. Each night of the retreat a concert will be performed that is also open to the public. For community members who are not attending the Carmel Guitar Society Classical Guitar Retreat at Asilomar, tickets can be purchased individually for these shows via SandBox and Eventbrite. Additionally, we are offering a three-night concert pass on Eventbrite that includes all admission to all three concerts at a discounted rate.
